Batch Jobs

Batch Jobs allow you to edit many animals at the same time. Nearly all data entered in the Batch Job screen can also be entered via a single-animal edit screen (see Edit). Batch Jobs many times offer a faster way of entering data when the same information is entered for several animals. A batch job always utilizes your current active animal set.

All Batch Jobs are generally set up in the same manner. You simply enter that data you wish to apply in the top section of the screen and in the lower section of the screen, check the boxes in front of the animals for that you wish to enter this data. Nothing is ever done until you click the "submit / apply" button in any Batch Job screen.

The animals in a batch screen can be sorted by clicking on the column heading to sort ascending and clicking a second time to sort descending (similar to the HTML reports). You can also sort by multiple columns by clicking first one column heading then another. For example, you wish to sort you animal list by sex then birth date within sex. You would first click on the birth date column, then secondly click on the sex column. Thus, you would click the columns in the reverse order you wish to sort.

After you enter data in a batch screen, the check boxes for your chosen animal remain checked on. This is done to help you remember the animals for which you just entered data. The "Invert Selection" button above the animal list reverses your check boxes. This button remove the checks from the boxes you had checked on as well as checks on all the animal boxes that were not checked in the previous operation. The "Select All" and "Select None" buttons often are useful in changing all check boxes as well.

Sales (100% Only)

The Sales (100% Only) Batch Screen is designed to quickly enter sales / purchase information on a group of cattle at once. In GEM, a sales record and a purchase record are essentially the same thing, the only difference is that you are the buyer in a purchase record while you are the seller in a sales record. All sales / purchase data must contain both a seller and a buyer.
